Drive-in Racking is a high-density storage option that is cost effective and stores significantly more material than standard pallet racking. Forklifts enter into the structure to place and remove materials. Because forklifts drive into the rack itself, the racks can be subject to more abuse than other types of rack systems. If the facility requires FIFO (first in first out) inventory management, you will most likely want to configure this type of rack for drive-thru access. Companies not concerned with FIFO access can choose to put the rack against the wall, which creates a drive-in system. Drive-in pallet racks require less space, fewer aisles, and can greatly increase the space available in smaller warehouses. Drive-in pallet rack systems also work well with first-in first-out inventory systems where the same item is continually pulled.
