In a Pallet Flow Rack loads are deposited on one side and flow to the other. It’s like a conveyor within a rack structure. A forklift places a pallet into the pallet rack. Then a series of rollers and brakes guide the pallet down the lane until the pallet is stopped by another pallet or the front of the rack. When unloading a pallet from the rack, a forklift comes to the front of the rack, removes the first available pallet, and all remaining pallets slide forward.
One of the greatest advantages of pallet flow rack over pushback and static pallet racking is that flow rack allows for more storage capacity. While pushback rack may be able to store approximately 5 pallets deep, a pallet flow system will allow as many as 10-15 pallets deep.
